Liturgical Ministries

The ministries below provide lay leadership to coordinate and support each worship service. For more information or to volunteer, please contact us.

Altar Guild

Altar Guild maintains and prepares the altars and supplies required for all services throughout the year.

Acolytes

Acolytes support the clergy during services, participate in processions, light candles, carry items like crosses, and assist during Holy Communion.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers serve at the altar and distribute the wine to the congregation as they come forward to receive Holy Communion.

Eucharistic Visitors

Eucharistic Visitors deliver Holy Communion to home-bound parishioners, and help them maintain their ties to the community.

Greeters and Ushers

Greeters and Ushers welcome people to the church, and are available to answer questions and help with seating. Ushers also assist during the offertory, when members of the congregation bring bread and wine to the altar and donations are collected.

Lectors

Lectors read the selected Bible lessons during services.

Master of Ceremonies

The Master of Ceremonies (MC) directs and assists the clergy and servers, manages the altar space, and coordinates ceremonial details to ensure the service flows smoothly.

Music

The Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church Choir with the Director of Music and organist/pianist, provide music for the Choral Eucharist on Sundays at 10am and at special services and events.

Thurifer

The Thurifer is responsible for carrying and swinging the thurible, a metal censer designed to burn incense as required at various services.

Verger

Vergers guide and direct the movements of participants during religious services and manage processions.
